Wounded warriors and celebrity riders come together for motorcycle charity ride
May 14th, 2009
It will be an emotional charity ride when celebrities, caring bikers and their motorcycles come together to support the Wounded Warrior Project in Hollywood, California this coming Saturday.
Joining the motorized procession starting on Hollywood Boulevard will be wounded warriors and the general public as well as celebrities and motorcycle enthusiasts.
Organized by Motorcycle Charity Associates Inc, the Stars and Stripes Hollywood Ride in conjunction with National Armed Forces Day will assemble between 8:00-10:00 a.m. on Hollywood Blvd., in front of the Kodak Theater.
The Wounded Warrior Project's mission is to honor and empower our service men and women by providing direct programs and services to meet their needs.
Wounded Warrior Project began when several individuals took small, inspired actions to help others in need.

One night while watching the evening news, a group of veterans and brothers were moved by the difficult stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq. They realized then and there that something needed to be done for these brave individuals beyond the brass bands and ticker tape parades.
The resulting objective was to provide tangible support for the severely wounded and help them on the road to healing, both physically and mentally. What had been initially viewed as a small contribution (compared with what the warriors had sacrificed while serving our country) has become WWP's signature program: "WWP backpacks delivered bedside to wounded warriors."

Aside from the celebrities on the ride, Ricky Schroder will be at Abuelitas Restaurant to greet his celebrity friends, and all of the other riders.

Among his other charity work, Schroder is also an active celebrity ambassador for the child abuse prevention and treatment non-profit organization Childhelp.
Riders interested in joining in the ride can sign up on the day of the event, and not only will they ride for qreat cause, but get a commemorative pin for their participation as well as lunch at the Abuelitas restaurant in Topanga Canyon.
The ride assembles at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, California in front of the Kodak Theater, between Highland Ave. and Orange Ave.
